Window Tint Frequently Asked Questions

Window Tint Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is window tint legal in Georgia?
A: Yes. The legal limit for a car is 32% for all side windows, back windows and a front strip which can be no more than 6 inches. The legal limit for a truck, van or SUV is 32% for the front two windows, with no limit for the rear side windows, back window and 6 inch front strip.

Q: Will you come to my home or work to tint my vehicle?
A: While this may seem like a good idea, it would be impossible to prevent dust from getting into the tint. For this reason we do all of our tinting at our shop inside our tint bay.

Q: Will window tint protect my interior?
A: By blocking 99% of harmful UV rays, our Llumar window tint can prevent most cracking and fading of your dash, seats and trim.

Q: The auto parts store has tint for a cheaper price, why should I pay Precision to tint my vehicle?
A: If you have ever seen a vehicle with the tint bubbling, fading or peeling it is a sign of poor quality tint and installation. Quality tint like our Llumar window tint comes with a strong adhesive that bonds the tint to the glass preventing bubbling and peeling.

Q: Speaking of price is Precision the cheapest place to get window tinting?
A: Probably not. We only offer quality window tint installed by a professionally trained technician. We guarantee our work for as long as you own your vehicle. We have insurance that covers your vehicle while it is in our possession. The question to ask is do you want to trust your vehicle to the lowest bidder?

Q: Why do I have to wait to roll down my windows after they are tinted?
A: There is a curing time to allow the adhesive to bond to the glass, usually 48 to 72 hours. Rolling the windows down prematurely can cause the tint to shift or buckle.

Q: Will window tint peel?
A: Quality window tint is guaranteed not to peel once it has cured to the glass.

Q: Why does some window tint bubble?
A: Bubbling usually occurs with a poor quality tint that lacks a strong adhesive and poor quality installation.

Q: Why do my windows look foggy after window tinting?
A: Window tint is applied to glass that has been sprayed with a special liquid which allows the tint to be moved around and positioned properly. Once in place, the tint is squeegeed extensively to remove as much of this moisture as possible but some is ALWAYS left behind. Over a period between 5-7 days this will evaporate as the tint cures to the glass.

Q: Will window tint protect my interior?
A: Absolutely! Damage to the dash and interior of a vehicle is caused by UV (Ultraviolet) rays. All of the tint installed by Precision rejects 99% of UV rays protecting your dash, trim and interior.

Q: Will window tint protect me from the sun?
A: All of our Llumar window tint blocks 99% of harmful UV rays from the sun that can cause skin cancer.

Q: Why does it take so long to tint my vehicle?
A: While some shops may just slap some tint on the windows and think they have done a good job, we don’t. Here is how it is done at Precision. First we remove the door panels. Then we clean the glass. Then we use our computer and tint machine to do a precise cut of the tint. Only then is tint applied to the glass. Then we squeegee out most of the liquid used to apply the tint. Finally we wipe down the windows and reinstall the door panels. All of this usually takes about 2-3 hours for a quality job.

Q: What is the difference between 5%, 20% and 35% window tint?
A: The lower the number the darker the tint. Therefore 5% tint allows 5% of the visible light to penetrate while 35% allows 35% of the light to penetrate.
